
The Dean of the Faculty of Philology, Prof. Dr. Berton Sulejmani, accompanied by his collaborators, held a working meeting with Prof. Dr. Elena Jovanova-Grujovska – Director of the Institute of Macedonian Language “Krste Misirkov” – Skopje, within the framework of the “SS.Cyril and Methodius” University, who was accompanied by her colleagues. During the meeting, concrete steps were discussed for the implementation of the points outlined in the memorandum of cooperation, with a particular focus on joint research projects.
The Dean of the Faculty of Philology, Prof. Dr. Berton Sulejmani, stated that this memorandum is proof of our shared commitment to advancing linguistic and cultural studies, as well as to creating a stable and inclusive foundation for the development of academic and scientific projects, and the promotion of Macedonian Studies and Albanian Studies as important disciplines within philological sciences, with a special emphasis on the Macedonian language and the Albanian language as integral parts of Balkan languages. “On this occasion, I would like to express my deep gratitude to the academic staff who have been and continue to be a support for the Department of Macedonian Language and Literature at our Faculty. Their contribution has been of particular importance for the growth and development of this department, where their academic staff has delivered lectures and helped shape new personnel, not only in the first cycle of studies but also at the master’s and doctoral levels. I believe that this cooperation will bring new opportunities for academic exchanges, joint research projects, and scientific conferences that will further strengthen our institutional ties. We are committed to continuing to work together to elevate academic quality and promote the values of linguistic and cultural diversity”. – said among other things, the Dean of the Faculty of Philology, Prof. Dr. Berton Sulejmani.
After the meeting, at the Corner of Remembrance of the First Historical Rector, Prof. Dr. Fadil Sulejmani, the memorandum was signed, which aims to strengthen the academic and research ties between the two institutions. The memorandum foresees a series of joint activities that will contribute to the further development of scientific research and education in the field of philology. Key points of cooperation include the exchange of research and academic staff, the organization of joint scientific conferences, as well as the implementation of research-scientific projects.
Additionally, the agreement includes the exchange of publications published by both institutions, cooperation between their respective libraries, and the sharing of informational materials. This initiative is expected to be enriched with the publication of joint scientific and academic works that will contribute to the development of both institutions. Furthermore, the memorandum outlines the organization and participation in scientific meetings, conferences, and symposiums, creating new opportunities for researchers from both institutions to share their knowledge and experiences.
This cooperation marks an important step in strengthening the ties between academic and scientific communities, contributing to the advancement of research in the fields of philology and linguistics in the region.
